Mish Mash Fest

Updated: Apr 11, 2021

To kick of the season we joined forces with the non-profit organization Caritas. Together we sold products made by disadvantaged children and refugees. All of the gathered money from sales went to them.

On Monday (October 20th) we met with one of the coordinators of Caritas called Mihaela Todorova. She offered for us to join the Caritas team in selling accessories made by female refugees and disadvantaged children in the annual Mish Mash Fest in Sofia, Bulgaria. She explained that all of the money from sales will go to these two groups of people. A small part of the earnings goes directly to the refugees' wives. With the small amount of 20 lv they receive, they could perhaps buy a shirt or a coffee. However, for them knowing that their efforts were appreciated and helpful is more than enough. We were sure that this initiative was the perfect way to kick of the long season of The Helping Hand Club.

On October the 31st seven of us gathered in park Samokov as an act of support for one of the lowest social groups in our invisible hierarchy. We weren’t a lot of people, but we had a clear goal, to sell as many items as possible. We quickly organized ourselves. Two of us stood at the stand to assist and greet customers. One of us packaged the products. The other three gave out brochures and provided a description of our initiative to the people passing by. As a result, they drew a lot of attention to our humble stand. With smiles on our faces we greeted customers, and engaged in wonderful conversations. We slowly watched the money increase and increase until at last we collected the desired sum of 1500 lv. For us, it was a well-served miracle. Mihaela Todorova called me to express her gratitude for our service. We are extremely thankful for having the opportunity to engage in such a wonderful initiative.
